I recall my initial time visiting the Amalfi Coast. It was the summer of 2001 and it was wonderful. I was spending 3 months in Italy traveling around, with no schedule or itinerary, just driving and pausing whenever the desire struck me. I started in Milano and traveled south, merely stopping along the way to explore, eat and discover a place to bed down. It was simple back then most things were.

 

Reliving this stage in my memory, I recall as I was traveling along the mountainside, every twist and turn was further magnificent than the next. Until the last turn of my destination. The turn met me face to face with the stark blue waters of the infamous Amalfi Coast. I didn’t hesitate for a moment to pull my car over in the little rest area or overlook where I could take in this incredible view. It was spectacular, something I’d never seen before. It was like heaven on earth, or what I hoped heaven would be like.

 

That was it for me. I was forever in love. Well, you could say my love for Italy runs deep and there are so many areas I have fallen in love with since. I miss you deeply, Amore.
